Jeram Toi

On Tuesday morning, Dan smsed Mctc asking if there were any plans lined up for them that afternoon. Mctc was feeling sick so we did one thing at a time. We agreed to take them out for lunch. Since they love Malaysian food so much and could take spicy dishes, we thought Curry Leaf would be a good choice.

So after lunch, we took them to Jeram Toi. Not very far from Seremban, probably about 30 minutes drive from err... the police station or bomba (fire brigade) in Rahang.

First sight - Wasn't that impressive because there wasn't much rain for the past few weeks.

The waterfalls (there should be 7 waterfalls but we saw only 3, mainly because we didn't explore deeper into the jungle) lead to this big man-made pool and which leads to this -

.... a knee-deep pool for children with slides (the red thingy) to double their fun.

You can take the stairs and walk up to a certain height.. or you can....

... climb up the slippery rocks like what some crazy Americans did a few years ago. (No offense Keith, you guys are simply amazing!) :)

As we walked up the stairs (yup, we went up the civilized way), we saw another waterfall. What a beautiful sight.

This girl and her brother were so excited to see us (well, maybe they were more excited to see Dan and Patty) and kept wanting us to take pictures of them.

We were there for about an hour just enjoying the cool air and good shade by the surrounding trees. It was a perfect place to read, swim, have a family picnic or even bring your date here for some... hehe.
If I were staying around this area, I would spend most of my free time here.

After that we took Dan and Patty back to Seremban intending to leave them at the KTM station so that they could take the train to KL to meet another group of friends. They said it was still too early and so we took them to Top Curry House to have a drink. Then we took them to church to get their plane tickets printed because apparently, they have not printed their e-ticket for the next day to Indonesia.

It was about 6pm when we finally said our goodbyes at the KTM station. We hope to see them again sometime... next year. :)

A Day Out with Dan & Patty

They have seen most of Penang, Malacca and KL. Where else to bring them?

We went to Mid Valley, a famous shopping complex in KL. Yeah, sounds boring right? Anyway, we thought that if we could come back early we could go to Jerom Toi to see the waterfalls.

Another disappointment. It was the 15th day of CNY. WHERE ARE ALL THE CNY DECORATIONS??!!!

We spent most of our time in bookstores,namely Borders and MPH. Then we went for our lunch...LATE lunch because it was already 3.30pm when we were done with the bookstores. We ate in Madam Kwan's and had some local food. Dan had nasi lemak with chicken curry, Patty had curry laksa, Esther had asam laksa and I had Char Kueh Teow. My Char Kuey Teow didn't taste as good as the ones by the roadside.

After lunch we went back to Seremban.

On the way we stopped by at the Nilai Memorial Park... just to "look see look see".

It was already almost 6pm when we reached Seremban and it was too late to bring them to Jeram Toi since we needed another half an hour to get there and by that time it would be too dark to take pictures.

We ended up eating in my mother's house and later Esther took them back to Frankie's place.

A Visit to the Petronas Twin Towers

On Tuesday, 10.30pm, Mctc made plans with Dan and Patty to bring them to KL the next day. They are friends from America, missionaries to China now having a 3-week break in Malaysia. We were wondering where to bring them. We thought if they like nature, we could bring them to FRIM.

And if they like shopping, we could bring them to the Pavilion. I had never been there before but I've heard the it's THE place to go. Alternatively we could bring them to Petrosains in the KLCC (or Petronas Twin Towers). I was pretty sure they had been to the twin towers as this was their 2nd visit (Dan's 3rd) to Malaysia.

Come Wednesday morning, we took them to An Seng's coffee shop to have some typical Malaysian Chinese breakfast. It's good to know that they enjoyed Malaysian food, that could take spicy dishes and the only thing they didn't like were anchovies (What a waste!). I ordered Won Tan Mee, Loh Shee Fun Kon Loh and Hakka Mee and steamed and toasted yin yong bread. They loved the Hakka Mee.... and the milk tea.

Over breakfast they decided to go for the Petrosains. We left for KL at about 11.10am, reach the twin towers in an hour.

We thought it might rain in the evening so I suggested taking pictures of the twin towers first before visiting the Petrosains.

According to Patty, Dan sees things we don't see. Look at the picture above. It's the reflection of the twin towers. Dan took one look at the water and saw the reflection. What I see are only black tiles!!!. I've taken lots of pictures of the twin towers but never it's reflection. Cool eh?

It's a must to take pictures with the twin towers as the background. Gosh, I look so Chinese!!!

I haven't seen this part of the compound before. A swimming pool. Probably not for swimming, more for playing in the water.

I asked them if they have been up to the skybridge and they said no. It was already 12.20pm and I wasn't sure if they are issuing anymore passes for that day. Hurriedly I went to the skybridge counter and yeah, they were issuing passes for 3.45pm. We told them we wanted to go to Petrosains first and may not finish in time. We asked for a later time - 4.15pm.

It was almost 12.30pm and all of us were not hungry. I suggested to eat something light because we would not be eat in the next 3 hours. And so we did. We ordered 2 small Pizzas from the food court.
After lunch we went to Petrosains. I blogged about it yesterday, so I'm going to skip this part.

Earlier on Wai Hon (who came back from America last week) agreed to meet us here in KLCC. He arrived while we were still in Petrosains and had to wait 2 hours for us. I had been keeping a close watch at the clock and we were on time to meet up with Wai Hon and get to the sky bridge counter on time.

Looking at this board of buttons, I realised that there were only 84 floors. All the while I thought the twin towers had 88 floors. I think they let us out on the 41 or 42n floor. No one was allowed to go higher than that unless you are working on those floors.

It was about 4.35pm when we left the skybrige and were hungry by this time. Debating where to eat, either Burger Kings or Chili's, Dan and Patty opted for Chili's. They were in China for 1 and a half years and were craving for American food. They had Burger Kings last week and so we've decided to go to Chili's.

Our food was simply delicious. With every bite into her sandwich, Patty had this look of being in the 7th heaven.

In Chili's we were seated near the window and could see the fountain dancing across the pond.

You know what's the biggest disappointment? It was the 10th day of CNY and there weren't any CNY decors!!!!!!!

We left KLCC at probably 7.15pm. The parking ticket was so expensive. RM20.50. Now I know why people preferred to shop in Mid Valley.

We took Wai Hon , Dan and Patty to Wai Hon's hometown in Rawang, had a light roti meal in an Indian restaurant and went back to Seremban.

Petrosains

If you are a foreigner and this is your first visit to Malaysia, where would you go? I'm sure you must have checked out the tourist attractions on the internet or maybe you have some friends here to take you around.
Last weekend I met Dan and Patty in church. This was their 2nd visit to Malaysia (Dan's 3rd visit) and they were staying with Frankie this time. I wasn't aware of their plans to visit Malaysia this year because maybe we didn't get together much when they came in 2007.

We were supposed to bring them out for yam char (a drink) on Sunday, but due to some reasons we didn't. On Tuesday, I met up with Frankie and found out that Frankie wasn't free to bring them for short trips, so I decided maybe Mctc and I could take them to KL the next day.

The next day, we asked them where they wanted to go. We suggested FRIM and the Petrosains in the Twin Towers. They said they have been to the Twin Towers but they were very keen on Petrosains.

And so we went there. We spent about 3 hours there. With my Jusco card, we were able to save 15%. The ticket price per adult was RM12.00. With the Jusco card, we paid RM10.20 per person. Quite cheap compared to other attractions.

So many things to see and do but so little time. We went in at 12.45pm and had to be out by 3.45pm because we booked entrance passes to the skybridge at 4.15pm.

Gosh, I thought Patty and I would never fit into that little truck. Dan and Mctc were hard at work operating the "big" tractors.

We went on a helicopter simulator. Guess this is the highlight of Petrosains.

This looks like a fun game but it's not. You don't even get to race. You just get to accelerate a few seconds and bang, they show you the speed, your marks and placing and on to the next round.

A go-kart simulator. You'll have to pay M2.00 per ride.

I didn't know football requires 2 goalies!!!.

We rushed so much that we didn't get to meddle with some of the cool stuff they had on display. We didn't get to see the 3-D show. :(

This is a fun place to visit, so if you are bored and have 4 hours to spare, just visit the Petrosains.

Lizard's Egg

While sorting out the props for the upcoming musical, we came across many lizard's eggs and droppings.

It was a yucky job to do, but it had to be done and I volunteered to shake off all the droppings and sanitized the props. I saw the lizard eggs and showed them to the youths; some of them have never seen one before. Some wanted to break open the shells to see the tiny lizards...(gross).

The lizards reminded me of some American friends who stayed in my house 3 years ago.

You can tell that they were so fascinated with the lizards. Each took turns to (torture) play with the lizard. Kyle thought it would be nice to feel the lizard crawling through his hair (Yuck!). Craig pondered on taking one back to the States and keeping it as a pet. (Faint). Should have looked for a lizard's egg and hidden it in his luggage. :)

I'm gonna bring Delores (Mctc's sister) to SOGO and Mid Valley today. The schedule is a bit tight, but I think we'll manage. You know lah... shopping takes up a lot of time.

30th Aug - 1 Year Anniversary

Today I happen to scrap (putting bits of paper and photos together for my memories) about Ruth's farewell dinner last year. It was held 1 day before Merdeka - 31 August 2007. As I was scrapping, I thought.. hey, today's the 30th of August. It was exactly 1 year since I last saw Ruth. I miss you lah Ruth. :)

Om's first hike at Bukit Kepayang

Here's Om with her monkey friends at Bukit Kepayang. When she saw them, she was overjoyed. She even made monkey sounds and told us that when she does that her monkey friends will come to her aid. And by having her super mystical monkey stick with her, she is the monkey queen.

Yay! I've got a parcel from Ruth

Ruth called me last Monday. She told me to expect a parcel from her. On Friday, the church administrator called and told me that I have a parcel from Ruth. These are what's in it. Thanks Ruth. :)

Phone Call from Ruth

I received a phone call from Ruth yesterday. It's been a while since I last chatted with her on the phone. She reads my blogs to find out what's happening to me and, well, I'm waiting for her to start her own blog. She can really write well. I enjoyed her short stories. Most of the time she send me (and others too) an email to let me/us know what was going on in her life... and most of the time I don't write back.. Sorry Ruth, I'm bad at writing.

She called while I was at my nephew's birthday party. I had a pretty long day yesterday. The kidz safari was from 9am-2pm, and I didn't reach home till about 3.30pm. Then at about 8pm I went for this birthday party held in my cousin - Sharon's house.

Ruth called at 8.23pm. We exchanged pleasantries and checked on each other's life. She read about Sze-En being horrified at her dad's students atrocious English. She was amused by Sze-En's way of talking and told me that she had something to share on Ellie's (her daughter) choice of words too. My memory's not good but from what I remembered, Ruth said that Ellie had some kind of class celebration. It was the last day of school and all the kids in her class went out for lunch. At one point, Ellie raised her glass and said "yammmm senggggg". All the kids (and mothers too I'm sure) stared at her. Ruth had to explain that it was the Chinese way of saying "cheers". So they all raised their glasses in unison and said "yaaaaammmm seeenggggg". Haha...

Now that's uniquely Ellie. :)

Keith and Team

Keith's 3rd visit to Malaysia. This time he brought 11 students from Winona. Seven of them served in the music team. They are all very talented.

Batu Caves & Genting Highlands with Frances

Rachel met Frances online and they started chatting. Frances wanted to visit Malaysia in Feb, and so they made plans. Frances was here for 5 days (I think). We asked her to spend some time alone in KL for the first two days, take the local tour or something like that. Then on the 3rd day, she came down by bus to meet us(Monday morning). We took her to Malacca and later, to Jeram Toi and the Lake Gardens. She stayed overnight in my house and early the next day we went to KL. Rachel had to work. Frances & I took the bus, met up with my brother and our first tourist stop was Batu Caves.Hmm... they have build a large golden statue since I last visited the place.
There were 272 steps leading to the top and Frances was so much fitter than me. If given a chance, she could walk all 272 steps without stopping, but I had to stop halfway to catch my breath. There were a few shrines in the caves, and monkeys too.

Later we went to Genting Highlands (the only casino in Malaysia), my brother drove us to Gotong Jaya, and we took the cable car up to Genting. The weather was coolish as always. We didn't gamble (good girls.. hehe), but sat on some mild rides in the theme park.

Then later, we came down again by cable car, and went to Central Market in KL, bought some souvenirs. A couple of storekeepers thought Frances was local and I was from Indonesia or Japan. Hmmm.... so different lah.

Colby's Visit to Malaysia

Colby is Min Chee's (overseas) colleague from Texas. He came to Malaysia for business. It's hard to believe that we are older than him. :)
He had 2 weekends free. The first weekend, we took him to Jeram Toi. We always think that Mat Salleh like nature. So we brought him to this water fall place, on the way to Jelebu.

He, being a "Mat Salleh" like to do all those crazy things. When he saw this log hanging like a bridge over the stream, he had to walk on the log to cross the stream.

Later we had dinner in my mother's house. Incidentally it was also during the Chinese New Year celebration.


The next weekend, we went to Port Dickson. We didn't swim. Just play around in the water.


Then later we went to City Park, Seremban 2. Colby tried all the "exercise equipment" there. He was like a kid. :)
