Finger Food

Early this year, we were told by our cell group leader that we are only to provide finger food for refreshments and not a full-coursed dinner. The cell that I am attending is quite comfortable with the "refreshments" provided by various cell members. We don't mind if we have heavy food nor do we mind if we only have sandwiches.
If we are hungry even after having the refreshments, then we will go to our favourite "4.80" coffee shop and have some noodles and drinks there.

Yesterday, my cell member came with this finger food...

We have satay.. yum yum. It's actually barbecued meat - chicken or beef. I think Pastor Sally didn't have this in mind when she told all the cell leaders to provide only finger food for refreshments.

I didn't have my dinner and my lunch was only 2 slices of bread with kaya and butter and a cup of teh-si (tea with evaporated milk and sugar) at Ah Seng's coffee shop.

I ate only 3 satay sticks and some rice and thought of "4.80". I guess Mctc and Steven had the same thought because they agreed to have supper in 4.80 after cell.

I Want To Learn How To Sew

Last Saturday, Sze-En told me that she wanted to learn how to sew. It seems her teacher (Missionettes I think) taught her how to make a puppet from an old sock and and this requires sewing 2 buttons as "eyes" onto the sock.

I asked her to ask Tusi who's very good at sewing.

Tusi sewed very fast and Sze-En had a hard time catching up. Plus the fact that Sze-En was not good in the Malay Language making it difficult for her to understand Tusi.

Tusi let her try to sew, but I guess Sze-En's just obeying insturctions and does not grasp the concept of sewing.
She said that she wants to learn how to sew so that she can cover all her holey clothes with buttons. She said she will be joining Girl Guide next year and hopes to learn more about these domesticated stuff in this activity.

Later, I looked through Tusi's sewing area and found 3 buttons. I taught Sze-En how to sew and made her hold the cloth, needle and button all by herself.

There, this is her job. She managed to sew 3 buttons all by herself.

She now has her own sewing kit because kind Aunty Eunice went to town to purchase RM20 worth of buttons. Who knows maybe in future she may end up famous by creating Miss World's dress or something. :)

Old Mouse Vs New Mouse

My 1st mouse breathed its last a few weeks ago and I was forced to look for another one. Can't live without my mouse, you know. :) I knew that when Mctc bought his laptop last year, he also bought a new mouse and his free-with-the-laptop-mouse was not in use.

Happily I asked him for his spare mouse.

This mouse belongs to Mctc. It looks exactly like my original mouse, except that mine was a Sony. Now this mouse is very sensitive. Let's say I click on a picture icon and at least 3 of the same pictures will appear. It's so frustrating.
After using it for a few days I could not tahan (stand it) anymore, I asked someone who planned to go to a computer shop in PJ to get me a reasonably-priced mouse.

And this is what she got for me. It's really nice to look at but it's unusable. It's so hard to click and I practically have to use my whole arm to move the mouse. Try playing a game of Free Cell and by the time you are done, you will be so tired out.

And so, I reverted back to Mctc's mouse for the time being till I get another mouse.

Poor Little Kitty

Thursdays are Sze-En's off-day. Apart from school she doesn't have any tuition or church activities. It is the day where she can sit in front of the TV and watch cartoons or whatever that take her fancy.

I was in my mother's house last Thursday when she came back from school. She did her usual stuff... change into her home clothes, ate her lunch and talked to Molly. Then later she told me that the day before, a kitten came into the house compound in the afternoon and if I stayed longer maybe the kitten would come again that day.

Not long after she said told me this, we could hear the kitten meowing. Sze-En was the first to rush out of the house to check on the kitten. It was a tiny little thing, all cold and wet from the rain.

I was surprised at this little kitten because it was unusual to see cats loitering around a Chinese housing area.
Anyway, my father didn't want any stray kittens in the house compound, and so the poor kitten was ushered out immediately.

My Sister Painted Me a Snob

Two weeks ago, an old school mate of mine rang my sister to say that she was getting married and would like to know how to send the invitation card to her. My sister said that she needn’t send a card and an email would do just fine.

I didn’t receive a call from her and I thought perhaps during our school days, I wasn’t as popular as my sister and so she had forgotten about me.

Two days ago on my ex-class mate’s wedding day, my sister told me that our friend had indeed invited me for her wedding dinner but she (my dear sister) declined the invitation on my behalf and gave one or two reasons for it.

I shook my head and thought to myself… no wonder many people think that I’m a snob.

Anyway, I’m kinda glad that she declined the invitation on my behalf because I’m basically an introvert. Something unexpected came up that night too. I had to accompany someone to the hospital at 10.30pm and only left the hospital at 1.30am.

I Suspect It's The Cat That Did It

I blogged about my slippers a few weeks ago. I bought an extra pair because I knew that the slippers wouldn't last long and true enough, a couple of beads fell off after some time. Then I started wearing the 2nd pair. Guess what?

The beads came off the 2nd pair too. Almost the same spot like the first pair. This time I don't see any beads lying nearby and I suspect it's the cat that pull them off from my slippers. (Yeah, blame it on the cat). Well, I saw a cat in my house compound looking very pleased with itself!!!

I now have to use an older pair of slippers which is missing of one thing too. and that's the big half a fake pearl bead.

I think it's time to shop for another pair of slippers :)
